Back in the summer of 2019, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee released Wanderlust on Editorial, a label we’ve been supporting a quite a few occasions already. So if you missed this, like we did, pay close attention and read on!
Wanderlust is an over all enjoyable experience, and entered the top 10 on Junodownload’s Disco/Nu-Disco chart rapidly, and stayed there for a long time. Discoholics Ken has played them in his B For Beer D For Disco rampage.
Still, we’d like to single out the third track on the EP, About Da Music. Behind Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee you’d expect to find a producer duo, but in fact it comprises of Dave Allison alone. His production style is, as he describes it himself, “occasionally fuelled by scotch, often lead by a funky bassline”. This is by all means a bill that fits that particular description.
About Da Music is a deep-spaced Disco jammer with ethereal synths inhabiting a starspangled night sky with orbiting percussions and a solid yet organic four/four beat that combined has got your rhythm genes doing the mambo right from the get go.
